How to Choose a Chair

Chairs are more than just extra seating—they are an opportunity to make a design statement. Whether it is a classic armchair, a sleek dining chair , a chic barstool, a cosy recliner, a bench for extra seating, a modern home office chair, or a bedroom bench, choose a style that complements your home and adds visual interest to your room.

Upholstery plays a key role here as well; a leather chair can add a touch of sophistication, while a patterned fabric chair might introduce a playful element. A wooden chair is built to last, while a velvet chair adds a touch of elegance to any space. And a faux leather chair is perfect for households on a budget.

Which Material is Best for Chairs?

Leather Chairs: Leather upholstery is durable, easy to clean, and ages beautifully, developing a unique patina over time. It is an excellent choice for creating a classic or contemporary look.

Fabric Chairs: From cotton and linen to polyester and velvet, fabric sofas and chairs offer a wealth of options. For a family-friendly choice, look for fabrics that are stain-resistant and easy to maintain, like our Orson Resilient Fabric range. If you are after a luxurious feel, velvet or silk can add a touch of elegance to your space.

Wooden Chairs: Discover timeless craftsmanship and natural charm with our range of sturdy and stylish wooden chairs, perfect for both classic and contemporary interiors.

Velvet Chairs: Elevate your home with the plush elegance of velvet chairs, offering luxurious comfort and rich texture for a sophisticated look.

Faux Leather Chairs: Add a sleek, modern touch to your dining space with our easy-to-clean and durable faux leather chairs, available in a range of stylish colours.

How to Measure for Your Chair

Width:Measure the space where you plan to place your chair and ensure there’s enough room for it to sit comfortably without overcrowding the area. For dining or home office chairs, consider the number you need side by side. In living areas, a wider armchair makes a great statement, while narrower styles are ideal for compact corners.

Height: Chair height affects both comfort and style. For dining chairs, ensure the seat height allows enough clearance under your table; typically 25–30cm between seat and tabletop. For armchairs, match the back height to your other furniture for a cohesive look, especially if placing them near a sofa or window.

Depth: Consider how you intend to use the Chair. A deeper seat is perfect for lounging or reading, while a shallower seat suits upright sitting and smaller spaces. Always allow enough room behind and in front of the chair so it doesn’t interrupt the flow of your room, especially for swivel or recliner styles.
