Love That

Introducing a new monthly feature where the EZ Living Interiors in-house creatives and taste-makers share their Love That products from our collections.

Some of us are serial list-makers with bullet points for decluttering and a shopping list for the supermarket.

A simple analogue way of detailing everything in a notebook has never gone away, although going full-tilt with a digital spreadsheet and completion sequence for a home renovation project is pretty much the norm too. Either way, lists reveal so much about us, our priorities and our taste.

First up with her list of Love That products is Laura O’Keeffe, host of Style Stories, the most listened to interiors podcast in Ireland, where some of the greats of the Irish design world, interiors influencers and TV personalities reveal the highs and lows of their own interiors journeys.

Her choices are inspired by her apartment home and what would work in it size- and style-wise, and includes the signature Scott sofa. Mid-century inspired and super-comfortable, it’s the chocolate brown version recently added to the collection that tops her Love That list.

“It’s a customer favourite and it’s easy to see why,” she says. “Its timeless mid-century silhouette feels as relevant as ever, while this new chocolate brown velvet upholstery brings a fresh sense of warmth and depth. The finish is rich, inviting and quietly luxurious, and elevates the entire piece.”

Her own living room sofa, which she’s planning to replace, is upholstered in blue and styled with a mix of cushions and throws in neutrals, rust and ochre, echoing the colour palette we associate with mid-century. It’s a calming, modern aesthetic in what is an airy, light-filled apartment in a period property, with clean white walls and where original features have been retained, including a fireplace and wooden window shutters and frames.

These details make her next Love That piece a coherent fit, choosing the Molino natural oak wooden 1.6-2.1m extending dining table. It’s not surprising for an apartment resident as extending tables bring added value where space is at a premium, especially for Laura who loves to entertain.

“This is one of those pieces that just fits naturally into any space,” she says. “I love the flexibility of the extending design. It adapts effortlessly from everyday dining to hosting, without ever feeling overly functional. It’s a really dependable piece but still feels light and considered. The kind of table that naturally becomes the centre of the room.”

No table is complete without chairs, and here Laura opts for contrast with the Roman beige and taupe dining chair with arms. Fans of Arne Jacobsen designs from the ‘50s might see a notional influence from his Swan chair in the seat shape, brought up to date for modern needs.

“This piece feels closer to an armchair than a traditional dining chair,” says Laura, “as it’s softly curved and generously proportioned. The sculpted seat and arms create a more relaxed, lounge-like feel, bringing a sense of ease to the dining space. The swivel base adds a more structured, modern element; a beautiful contrast to the softness of the silhouette. It’s a piece that shifts the tone of the room entirely.”

Opting for something totally modern for her next Love That piece, the Lyra natural oak king size bed frame picks up on the warm wood of her dining table choice and links to original wood tones in her home. Its frame’s slimmer profile makes it apartment-friendly.

“The Lyra bedframe is beautifully pared back,” she says, “with a natural oak finish that brings warmth and softness into the bedroom. The grain adds subtle character, while the clean lines keep the overall look calm and considered. It has a quiet, grounded presence that brings a sense of calm to a space. The headboard is simple but refined, adding just enough detail without overwhelming the room. It’s the kind of piece that creates a sense of easy, understated luxury in a bedroom.”

With abstract art on her apartment walls, the Luna gold irregular shaped mirror has also given her a Love That moment. Struck by the organic, irregular silhouette, she says, “It gives this mirror a sculptural, almost artistic quality, bringing softness and movement to the wall. Its warm gold tone frame adds just enough contrast while still feeling refined and understated. It works beautifully as a functional piece, but equally as something that draws the eye; a subtle statement that adds interest with ease.”

Books, art and personal items collected over time form stylishly curated vignettes on her living room shelves and on her cast iron fireplace mantlepiece, with a more recent addition. “Plants are having a real moment for me,” she says, and not surprisingly as despite the covetable character of her period home, the drawback is lack of outdoor space, but that hasn’t stopped her having a wish-list for when she moves to her forever home.

With the final Love That piece on her list she’s opted for the Tripoli living and dining sets from the newly launched Brendan Courtney Home & Garden x EZ Living Interiors outdoor collection. It’s a wild card choice in what is otherwise Laura’s clear appreciation of mid-century meets Scandi modern.

“I absolutely love this collection,” she says. “The pieces feel genuinely unlike anything else on the market. The softly rounded silhouettes are so easy on the eye, and the three-legged design adds a subtle but distinctive point of interest. It’s a great example of how outdoor furniture doesn’t have to compromise on style.”
