Grey Living Room Inspiration

With news that the Dulux colour of the year is Tranquil Dawn, at EZ Living Interiors, we are not surprised! It’s a really adaptable colour for any part of the home and can be complemented so easily with accessories and varying furniture textures. The experts at Dulux put it best when they speak about the intricacies of the Tranquil Dawn colour:

“...it can work in different ways in a warm, neutral, soft or bright palette. Tranquil Dawn sits somewhere between green, blue and grey – just like the fleeting beauty of a morning sky…”

We are loving this really affordable Waldorf 3 Seater Sofa; this is part of the beautifully designed Waldorf collection of furniture that will really make a design statement in your home. With unique curvaceous features to the cushion backs and the overall shape, this is a superbly presented sofa which is finished elegantly with solid pine feet. Its light grey hue is a really neutral tone and would look amazing with a few carefully chosen accessories such as colourful cushions; our favourite is this Tahiti design!

Or who could possibly resist the sheer style and comfort of the Scott sofa in concrete? This style of sofa is one of our bestsellers and it’s easy to see why! The Scott is a wonderful velvet texture that will be a classic addition to your home. Because of its own sensational look, the Scott doesn’t need much to set it off except perhaps the addition of a sleek coffee table to complement it… we think this Tivoli coffee table would finish things off wonderfully with the dark wood legs of the Scott sofa matching the Tivoli perfectly.

For a flexible grey look in a functional piece of furniture, the Astoria 2 seater sofa bed is a great addition. It has the on-trend colour of grey and also can accommodate any extra guests that you might have staying over from time to time. This is a really great sofa for apartment living - it adds seating comfort but has the adaptability to work hard for its space by being turned into a bed if needed.

Adding a Bit of Wow to your Grey Living Room!

Occasional or accent chairs are a lovely and astute addition to a living room. They can add interest to a corner; they can add texture if needed plus they can be that very special chair that simply adds comfort to a room! To follow our grey theme, we love the Icon accent chair with its soft grey and white palette. We think this is a beautiful and modern take on a more classic silhouette and one that would make the most perfect addition to any home.

We also adore this New England accent chair which is a modern twist on a classical wing chair and not only is supremely comfortable, it is heavily textured to add depth to a room and doesn’t need any accessories as a result.

For a modern and sleek take on accent chairs, here is the Palma Grey velvet chair. This is a deep, plush, padded chair that offers the ultimate comfort while button detailing brings a sophisticated touch. This is a versatile chair that can be even used in a bedroom or dining room setting.

Complementing Grey in the Living Room & Home

If you’ve made the decision to use grey in the living room but if you’re struggling for inspiration as to what other colours work well with the very many different shades of grey, we think these words from colour expert and consultant Karen Haller in this post on The Design Sheppard are very helpful:

“As grey doesn’t have a ‘personality’ of its own, paired with any other colour, it allows that colour to be visible whilst grey takes a back seat. The key is to choose a grey that is from the same harmonious colour family as the rest of the colours you are using.  That way it will harmoniously resonate and not jar or drain the other colours. If you had a colour that was overpowering, you could tone it down (drain it) by using grey, or better still change the overpowering colour.”

That is an overwhelming thumbs up for the colour grey and opens it up to many possibilities in the home.
